Just to clear up any mystery, the recent rash of “tag your art NSFW” isn’t out of any interest in hiding porn to sensitive people.
It’s because with the rise of social justice, people are now becoming aware that each one of them can exert power over the masses just by making demands based on their feelings.
“Do this or I’ll be offended.”
That’s the mantra of social justice, and it’s been extremely successful, so do not be surprised when you see more people attempting to grab this tenuous bit of power for themselves. Even if it has no result and means nothing, they don’t care as long as they can exert just a tiny bit of power over a single person on the internet.
People become mods and admins of message boards or chat rooms or game servers just for this exact sensation. People make their twitter or facebook accounts private just for the simulation of this.
It’s all about power, if only even a crumb of it, whatever people can snatch up for themselves and huddle around desperately, to try to feel control over any aspect of their lives in a world where they feel like there is no control over anything and everything outside themselves is terrifying chaos. They want control over even the smallest thing in an attempt to quell that sensation of chaos.
When you understand this, congrats, you now understand how the human race works.
This is the truth. Nothing more, nothing less. This recent Tumblr obsession with censoring fanart (Well, only sexy fanart done by men. The yaoi shit done by women gets zero backlash, even if it portrays an underage male character in a sexual situation) if anything shows what kind of pathetic control freaks social justice warriors are.
